House purchasing update and beautiful cherry trees in DC!

Hi guys.  So, it has been a very stressful week.  We had the inspection for the house we're under contract on, and everything was fine EXCEPT...the access/entry to the crawl space is too small for an adult to fit in.  The sellers aren't willing to cut a larger access because in this market they could easily sell the home as is, and they don't want to risk damaging their property.  So we have to decide by today if we are going to walk away or not.

Anyway, Chris and I forced ourselves to take our mind off of the whole debacle for just a little bit and walk around the Tidal Basin, where right now all of the beautiful cherry blossoms are in full bloom.

We are a couple days away from a home inspection on an older home and I am so worried about what that will uncover. I totally understand how you feel!

Good luck with the decision!

Could you find a company that has a remote camera to make sure things are OK under there? Is that the issue? I would think there would be some way to inspect it with a remote camera? Just some thoughts. Good luck though.

That sounds like something that would prevent it from being able to sell because of code violation. Meaning even if they sell "as is" they should have to fix it because township or county rules prevent you from selling something that is hazardous. Plus now that it has been noticed, the real estate agents and homeowners must always disclose this issue to any potential buyers.

I think that's a fantastic place to have a home in. But then again, the cherry blossoms can only be one of its pros. And it is crucial to weigh both the good and the bad. Did you end up with this house? I think it's not a very big problem as it can be fixed; though having the owners shoulder the expense would greatly reduce your renovation costs.
