A big personal announcement!

My birthday was September 29th...Best birthday gift ever? I get Chris as a husband. Chris proposed to me on the 21st by driving down to the Outerbanks where I was vacationing with my family, showing up on the beach and writing his proposal in the sand.

Now begins the daunting part - planning! Any words of wisdom you guys can share with me will be GREATLY appreciated!  I have already ordered a wedding planning organizer and a book of budget wedding ideas and tips.  I plan on updating you guys with my ideas and progress here on Decorology.

Such exciting news! Congratulations!!! And WOW, what a beautiful ring. It`s absolutely gorgeous. Talk about a sweet guy, to drive down and surprise you like that.
I guess my tips for you would be to negotiate negotiate negotiate! And make a little folder of pictures of photos you`d like to recreate and a list of photos you absolutely want to have taken. Make 2 copies of it - one for the photographer, and one to leave in your limo (this one have a pen attached to it so you can cross stuff off). This way you absolutely know you get that walking away shot of the back of your dress or that photo of you and all the generations of women in your family - these kinda shots can easily get forgotten, so it`s worth planning out ahead so you don`t have to think about it on the big day.

You are going to have so much fun planning!

All the best,
:)

That is so romantic! and I would like to hand on the advice I was given: elope!

I know you're not going to do it but remember, it's always an option.

Congratulations!

My best advice for you? Don't spend a fortune on a wedding. The marriage is the most important part, not the wedding. Save the money you'd spend on a wedding and use it as part of a down payment on a house - much more important. Good luck!

Congratulations!
On my wedding day just about everything that could go wrong did, so I'll tell you what made it all alright. As I was freaking out on something, my darling husband looked at me and said, "I don't care what happens today because I know at the end of the day we will be husband and wife."
So just keep in mind that nothing can happen that will change the way you two love each other and any mess ups will just add to your memories!
Best of luck and have fun with all your planning!

Congratulations! Your ring is lovely. My advice would be to elope also. Or keep it simple so you can enjoy your special day.

Congratulations! Just like everyone else, I will say keep it simple, fun, and don't spend to much for your special day,(exception is on flowers, get the best you can) your life together is what is important not how fancy the wedding day is... remember it is your day not anyone else's.
People tried to nose in and screw with my day... don't let them...x
ps date night once every 2 weeks is important, we have done this for 35 years and it really makes a difference in our lives together)
Now go out and find the dress that makes your heart sing and you'll be totally fine. xxx

I agree with everyone: keep it simple and personal. I was a wedding planner for years and in all that time there were only two brides that truly enjoyed their wedding day.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am currently planning a wedding for December! My advice is to not do it all by yourself, which is what I tried to do, but find a very close friend or family member that will help you, but respect your ideas. You know what you want but sometimes you just need someone to bounce ideas off of and tell you that you are right. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How perfect is that proposal?!? He will make the best husband! LOVE your ring too!

My advice? The day goes so fast and it's weird what you forget, so the more pictures/video, the better!

Can't wait to follow along with your planning!

Congratulations! The best things I found while I was engaged were Google's wedding planning doc (http://www.google.com/weddings/) and A Practical Wedding (http://apracticalwedding.com/) which really helped keep things in perspective and sort through some of the emotions that can come up. Good luck, and have fun!

Yay! How fun. I got engaged in July and it's really fun and overwhelming. Pinterest is great, blogs are helpful, but don't lose sight of what is important to you and your families. Feel free to email me if you ever need to vent to another bride-to-be.
