A super chic and mod mix in a North Copenhagen home

This home has a meditative quality that I am instantly drawn to, however, I don't know if I could keep it so spare. I think I'd ultimately end up adding some elements to bring in some coziness.

How about you? Could you/do you live in a space this minimal?

oooh...a baby grand

love the floors in this place...

From my summer in Europe - amazing Pompeii

Without a doubt, Pompeii should definitely not be missed if visiting that part of Italy. I knew quite a bit about it before I ever saw it because I studied Latin in high school and it is Pompeii that gave us such a good knowledge of Roman life. I had no idea, however, how big the site is and how well preserved some buildings and artifacts are.

Here are some pictures from our day in Pompeii... (you can click on any image for a larger version)

If this peaks your interest definitely read wikipedia's Pompeii page for a good overview of the city's life and demise

From the town forum

A courtyard in a villa

A view of a street in Pompeii. Amazing no?

In a building they've been collecting artifacts they find to put on display. These are mostly wine vessels, but they've included a few plaster casts of the indentations left be people who died in the eruption.

A small shrine of some sort

On the outskirts of Pompeii is one of it's most famous sites - the Villa of Mysteries

This amazing fresco depicts woman's transition from a girl to a married woman. This initiation chamber is what has made the Villa of Mysteries so unique and important.

Another theater is still used for performances

Hope you enjoyed! Anyone here been to Pompeii? Thoughts?

A super cute Swedish abode in a mix of styles

What a great dining room. It's hard to incorporate color like this without making the room look like a kid's room, but I think they did a great job!

Love the tiles.
This kitchen is so bright and cheery.

Gorgeous home offices

Working from home, it is VITAL to like your work space. It can't have too many distractions and must a comfortable place to sit for long periods of time.

Here are a few yummy home offices I really like:

A nice space for a seamstress. I can't wait until I have the space for my sewing machine to live permanently. Now I always have to take it out and put it away when I use it.

All of the little shelves in this desk are great for stationery enthusiasts

I ADORE this home office - a desk with generous surface area, and inspiration pinned all around

Cut down on the amount of holes you poke in the wall by just running some string and clipping inspiration to the string

Such a clever idea - chicken wire is stretched in an empty frame and used as an inspiration board!

Not to miss house tour for mid-century modern fans

I am a big fan of mid-century modern furnishings and interiors, except when it's done in a cutesy, trendy way. I think this home is a beautiful example of mid-century modern as the furniture is restored or reupholstered with contemporary fabrics, and integrated into the home amongst contemporary accessories - lamps, artwork, textiles, etc.

Fabulous table and chairs - and what do you think of the lamp being on the table?

The chair is mid-century modern but the upholstery is now, keeping it from being cutesy.

Another great set of table and chairs. I love this room, it looks like such a peaceful place to have breakfast.

In the top left corner of this picture you'll notice a photo overlay and in the scene you can see this console. It still looks great arranged with salon-style artwork and a modern rug.

What do you think?

Amazing inspiration from my favorite blogs

It was other blogs that got me started blogging, so I try to set aside some time every week to peruse three blogs from my blogroll and share my findings with you. Enjoy!

The images below are from the always inspiring Herman Miller "Lifework" blog. Corporate and company blogs can often be a total snorefest, but Lifework is sensational. It really appeals to me because I am a freelance web designer and work from home, and the blog consistently features inspiring home offices from other designers. Super inspiring.

Check it out - Lifework.

The images below are from the Michelle Rago Weddings blog.

Love this wedding inspiration board. Looks like a glam Victorian theme

And this dress? I don't have anywhere to wear it but oh how I'd love it. Simple but not boring. (It's a Badgley Mischka if you're wondering)

Michelle found this amazing artist who she featured on her blog - Jim Denevan makes temporary drawings on sand, earth and ice that are eventually erased by waves and weather.

Beautiful no? See more at Michelle Rago.

And last, but definitely not least, one of my first blog friends - Linda, and her wonderful blog Lime in the Coconut.

Her gorgeous tropical home - looks so effortlessly beautiful.

Love the floors of this kitchen - love the whole thing really...
