The CL 2010 House of the Year - and it's all eco-friendly (and beautiful)

Eco-friendly is getting prettier and prettier every year, making it not just easy on the earth, but easy on the eyes. Country Living put together this idea house full of inspiration. The house is actually a modular, pre-fab cottage, and available for purchase by the public. Read all the details for the house, rooms, and resources here.

What do you like about this house? Not like so much?

I LOVE the entryway. What a great space to see first thing when you walk in the door after work.

What do you think of wallpaper on the ceiling?

You may think all of these framed prints cost a fortune, but really all you need to accomplish this look are some basic frames, and then a used book of botanical or nature illustrations. Carefully remove the pages that you like and insert them in the frames!

A dream closet

the house seems very spacious, there's a whole lot to like. weird, but the 2 kitchen photos are not the same kitchen. I think I might grow tired of a wall papered ceiling, but in the photo it looks nice.

Pretty but a little too out there for me. I think I prefer a more simple palette.

I love the entry and the wallpapered ceiling. I have a wallpapered ceiling in my kitchen....just let me tell you...It looks great, but I'll hire a professional next time....my neck and arms will thank me!

I think they did a great job - especially considering the pre-fab/modular eco challenges. Love the one bathroom with the blue painted beadboard and furniture like vanity sink. Great idea for Country Living to do this. Thanks for sharing!

I think it's very well executed as far as design goes. It is not necessarily my personal style, a little too colorful, but I am sure its a dream for people who prefer it!

Even though I say its not my style, I must admit, I have pretty much exactly the same red window treatments only in an all white room for a pop of color. For anyone who feels the need to reupholster or add window treatments (I would feel bad if I didn't share this amazing find) I recommend designdivafabrics.com. I spent less than half of what I had expected to for much better quality. Hope it helps inspire to refresh your home like I did mine! Happy almost New Year!

I love the wallpaper on the ceiling. I've done it in my own house. I think it's fun when something unique is done to the ceiling instead of leaving it generic builder white. It can make such a bold statement.
