Charming coastal cottages

I have loved the beach since I was a little girl - and a week spent lying on the beach with a new book is my idea of the perfect vacation. Time moves completely differently, and I've never caught myself thinking about work when I'm on a beach. It is also a lifelong dream to one day live close to a beach - or at least have a nice little beach home to escape to from time to time!

Amazing kitchen - small is beautiful!

If I ever got my own studio in Brooklyn, I would love to see if I could pull off a similar look - even in December it would be like coming back to a beach cottage.

*stunning*

Love the bedding - what a difference a cheery palette makes!

I'll be taking my coffee and muffin here tomorrow morning!

A great new interior designer and gorgeous interiors!

I was recently "cyber-introduced" to Ireland's fabulous winner of "Best Newcomer 2008" of the Interior Design Awards. Danielle Mac Innes is her name and her firm is called Fuse. What I like the most about her style is how varied she can be!

One of my favs.

I adore the wood console

The website is great too!

Storybook walls

I was so happy to run across Grow House Grow's line of children's book inspired wallpaper last night called, "Nom de Plume."

DailyCandy reports: "Later this year will come the parlor line, a dark and elegant set inspired by figures like Aleister Crowley and Captain Smith (of Titanic fame). Hand-cast porcelain switch plates are also in the works.

A portion of proceeds goes to Libros Para Pueblos, a nonprofit that builds children’s libraries in Oaxaca — which is a conversation starter in itself."

I'll be checking back because what they have in the works sounds pretty snazzy.

Christopher paper (each paper is available in three colors)

Nellie paper (this one is my fav)

Cottontail

If you love them, but don't love wallpaper - you can frame them!

You can purchase the wallpapers for $150/roll or $38/sheet.

House tours from Domino

As part of my ongoing series of posts honoring our late friend Domino, I now bestow upon you some lovely house tours we all came to look forward to every month. *sigh* Enjoy.

Mary McDonald's "Tom Jones rock" inspired kitchen. I like the typography plates.

Kathryn Ireland's rustic style home. I love the humble bathroom, and the console in the kitchen with the dishes stowed underneath.

Actress Julianne Moore's stab at interior decorating. I like some of the choices she made - not all my style, but still pretty. I like the piece of drift wood on the radiator.

A rebuilt green home in New Orleans.

Domino style director Dara's lovely white bedroom.

I love Amanda Peet's down-to-earth, bohemian home. It's so ethereal and filled with interesting, meaningful objects. I also love that you can tell that she had a hand in it. She didn't just hire some designer to come in and make it look like a movie star's home.
