Bye bye Cody - I love you!

I don't think I've ever cried so much as I have been during the past month. As some of you might know, my sweet little dog, an 8 yr-old Aussie named Cody, was diagnosed with cancer last month. We did everything we could, but sadly he left us this morning. I'm truly devastated to loose him, and am sorry to leave you all neglected today, but I will try and be back on track tomorrow.
Take care everyone, and thanks for being patient.

Ashley, I'm so sorry to hear about Cody. Hang in there... he'll always be in your heart. The dog I used to walk (as a job) just passed away on Saturday and the owner and I sat together on the phone and sobbed. Love to pets everywhere...

How devastating. Little Cody was so lucky to have been loved so much. He had a wonderful life, if that is any comfort. A-M xx

So sorry to hear of your loss, pets play such a huge part in our lives and it really is painful to see them go. Your Cody is playing with my departed Snoopy as we speak :)

Oh! I am so sorry Ashley. There are no words that help. This i know.

...Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy...

Im sorry for the loss of your dog, it really shows how much animals are a part of a family, not just a pet.

As an animal lover, I cannot tell you how I feel your pain. You have my deep sympathy. Sadly, I too have lamented the loss of many beloved pets over the years. My dad, an animal lover as well, always told me that the short life span of pets was God's way of reminding us that we are mortal--that life can be fleeting...thus...appreciate what we have when we have it. Nothing takes away the pain of loss, yet I am always appreciative of the time I had with my pets, and wouldn't trade it for the inevitable endings. Their comfort and companionship was worth the pain of loss.

All good thoughts are sent to you.
Warmly,
Tracey

My relationship with my Tibetan Terrier Mabel was the most honest, open and easy I've had with any living creature- she was my best friend EVER. When she was alive I could burst into tears just thinking about a future without her. When the time came to say goodbye after 9 years together (she also had cancer)I was devestated but I had comfort from the fact that I ended her suffering and had absolutely no feelings of regret, no "if only I'd said..." because I'd already said it all, and she knew that, as your dog did too xxx

So sorry to hear , he was sooo GORGEOUS. I also have had that happen to me twice, so I know how you feel.
Always remember that when you get sad about his passing...that he was probably grateful that he got to spend the time he did in your loving home. So many dogs are living in shelters and never get a chance to even know what it;s like. You gave him a chance and knowing that, should make you feel better...that in his last days he spent them with YOU.

Our dogs, Frasier and Bebe, are such an integral part of our family. I can only imagine how terribly sad you must be.

Just found your blog via Decorno, and damned if I haven't been thinking all night about my sweet beagle that left us this past summer (must be Marley & Me coming out). I am so sorry for your loss. Dogs Rule!

Ashley, I just lost my dog last sunday too. I know how you feel. The worst part is the animal's suffering...and feeling you can't do anything to help him. Mine was a female dog called Nina and she died from a heart condition. Hang in there. They will always be in our hearts!

I just came across your blog today and read about your loss.

Dogs are the best friends and companions in the world. It is so hard to lose the ones we love so much!

Cody looks adorable and what Tracy's dad says is so true.

I wish you all the strength needed!
